Installing SWIFT
(Be sure and un-install any prior
SWIFT versions before starting a new SWIFT install.)
Once you have saved the
SWIFT_Installation.exe file to your hard drive, go
to
the location where you saved it and run the file by double-clicking on it.
Please familiarize yourself with the steps below
NOTE: The steps shown below can vary depending on which version of Windows you are
running
and which Windows Updates have already been applied to your computer. Generally
the more recent your version of Windows is (Windows 7 -to- Vista -to- Windows
XP),
the fewer steps will be involved in the installation.
SWIFT uses
the latest Windows technology from Microsoft and it is important that your
Windows version
has been kept up to date with Windows Updates in order for a successful
installation.
IMPORTANT: Please make sure your computer is connected to the internet
during the entire SWIFT install.

.NET 3.5 SP1 Installation*

The install will automatically detect if you need this version of Microsoft's
.NET Framework. If you run other Microsoft applications on your computer and/or
you keep your computer updated with Windows Update, you may not see this screen
as the Framework will already be installed. If you do see the screen above,
click Yes to install the required .NET Framework.
(You will need to rerun the SWIFT install after completion.)

Click Run to install the .NET Framework.
The install will then download and start:

Accept the terms and click Install >

|
|
|
IMPORTANT
If the install detected that .NET needed to be installed (above), after the
install for .NET is completed,
you will need to return to the folder where you downloaded SWIFT and
restart the
SWIFT installation to
continue installing the SWIFT software itself.
(This is because .NET is a Microsoft Windows install, separate from SWIFT
Birding Software.)

SWIFT SETUP

User Account Control Warning (Windows 7 and Vista only)

Make sure you click Yes in a timely manner or the install will timeout.
(see Special Instructions at bottom)
(There are no such warnings in Windows XP)
|

|
IMPORTANT - Do NOT install SWIFT anywhere under
C:\Program Files on a
Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer as
this can cause run problems due to their security settings.
|

|
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS - For Windows Vista and Windows 7
users only:
In these versions of Windows, Microsoft introduced much tighter operating system
security (the cause of the warning messages seen above) that has been known to
occasionally cause an interruption of the SWIFT install. If you see a warning
that updates have not yet been applied during your SWIFT installation, please
re-boot your computer and then re-run the SWIFT install after the computer boots
up. The SWIFT install will pick up where it left off and continue. Should
you have any issues during install, please contact our support team at
support@swiftbirder.com |

installation.)
